The Puget Museum

The Puget Museum is installed in a noble house of Dalt Vila, in the old main street, popularly known as Can Comasema, for being the Palou de Comasema family, of Mallorcan origin, who inhabited it during the 19th century. .

The Puget Museum, opened in 2007, has a permanent exhibition of 130 works by the painters Puget Viñas and Puget Riquer, father and son, two of the most outstanding contemporary Ibizan artists. In his oil paintings and watercolors they portrayed the city of Ibiza and the island customs and rites of the early twentieth century.

According to some sources, the oldest part of the house dates back to the 15th century, since the appearance of the shield of another family, the Francoli (bird-partridge) in the capitals of the pilasters of the courtyard, testify. The main facade faces south decorated with windows with three arches, garlands of rosettes and capitals with plant motifs, thus welcoming us to a museum of unique beauty. In this exhibition space of Ibizan painters such as Narciso Puget Viñas, a passionate about impressionism and his son Narciso Puget Riquer, more than 130 works of both are exhibited, oils, watercolors and drawings distributed by different themes such as rural life, the city, customs of the island, streets and landscapes. It also has several copies of Velázquez's paintings such as Count Duke de Olivares of Mariana de Austria, made by Narciso Puget Viñas.

The legacy is owned by the Ministry of Culture and the museum is managed by the City Council of Eivissa.

The visit is totally recommended: the exhibited works are a good reflection of the daily life of the Ibicencos, but the building itself is also surprising. It is an old palace, in which its open spaces and windows with exceptional panoramic views of the port of Ibiza

 HOW TO GET THERE?

 If the walls are accessed through the Es Soto Fosc tunnel, the Carrer Major part of the Plaça de la Catedral, on top of Dalt Vila. The Puget Museum is a little lower.

May to September: Tuesday to Friday, from 10 to 13.30 and from 17 to 20. Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 to 13.30. October to April: Tuesday to Friday, from 10 to 13.30 and from 16 to 18. Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 to 13.30. Free entrance.
