Unlike other temples of Dalt Vila, the church of l'Hospitalet is very similar to rural temples of Ibiza, with whitewashed façade, niche and oculus. It consists of a single nave covered with a barrel vault reinforced with arches. Although it is aware of its existence since the fourteenth century, the present church was rebuilt in 1708 by order of the archbishop of Tarragona, which was found seriously damaged during a trip to the island.
The temple was part of the old Hospital of Poor, whose patients were being treated at a nearby house, until in 1849 the hospital moved to a house adjacent to the Castle. The church housed inside the brotherhood of Eccehomo, accompanying death row inmates to the gallows. In the sixties of the twentieth century it was restored by architect Elias Torres and since then has had various uses, such as theater center or exhibition hall of the Museu d'Art Contemporani. Currently it used by the Orthodox community in Ibiza
